As a restaurant consultant, John works with clients, helping them in business startup and in integrating a variety of systems of professional food and beverage services. John was the chef /owner of The Harvard Street Grill, an award- winning restaurant in Brookline, MA for 7 years and worked at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Boston for 11 years where he served as the Executive Chef. He has over 40 years of food service experience. John is a retired Instructor from Boston University's Culinary Arts and Master's in Gastronomy Programs, where he taught fundamentals of cooking, How to Start a Food Business and How to Start a Private-Personal Chef Business and other professional development seminars. He is a member of The International Association of Culinary Professionals, Les Amis d'Escoffier (Chairman of the board) Boston and Central New England Chapters; Past Advisory Member for The National Food Service Panel and Restaurant Business Research Advisory Panel; and former Board member American Institute of Wine and Food. Bailli Honoraire Boston and Bailli Honoraire Northeast of the Chaine des Rotisseurs John was the recipient of The Ivy Award for Restaurant Management Excellence (The Oscar of the Food Service Industry) in 1983 and 1993. Additional awards include the Escoffier Society Medal of Honor, 1994 and 2001; Wine Spectators Award of Excellence at The Harvard Street Grill 1990 through 1994. Johnson and Wales Distinguished Visiting Chef, 1995. Chaine des Rotisseurs Gold Star. He has made numerous television and radio appearances, both local and national, and has been the subject of many print articles in Boston and national publications. He has certificates of training in a wide variety of computer software programs such as PageMaker, PhotoShop, Illustrator, Microsoft Access, Excel, Power Point, HTML Coding, Networking, ASP.net, Expression Web, Advanced Internet Business, Computer Systems Management and is a CIF Certified Webmaster.
