I got it from my sister who got it from a friend of a friend of a friend...I first brought this to a potluck at work and everyone thought it sounded absolutely horrible, strawberries and pretzels??? It ended up being the "hit" of the day and I have given the recipe to many, many friends and co-workers.
Amount/Ingredient/Measure
1 bag 9 oz. pretzels (2 cups) butter pretzels are best
1-8 oz. package soft cream cheese
1-8 oz. tub Cool Whip
1 large package strawberry Jell-O
2-10 oz. frozen strawberries (square boxes w/juice)
Instructions:
Sugar Butter Prep: Dissolve strawberry jell-o with 2 cups boiling water Add frozen strawberries and juice (I break up the berries if they are not defrosted) Leave in bowl in frig to soft set.
Mix two cups (maybe a little more) coarsely crushed with 3/4 cups melted butter and 3 tablespoons sugar Spread on 9x13 inch pan Bake at 400 degrees for 8 minutes, let crust cool.
Beat 1 cup sugar into cream cheese When softened, stir into Cool Whip, spread on cooled crust.
Pour soft set Jell-O over mixture, refrigerate until set!!
